$1095 Free Kids Dental
Who is eligible for kids dental benefits?
Currently the Child Dental Benefit Schedule applies to children who are:
- eligible for Medicare
- aged between 2 and 17 years old for at least one day of the calendar year
- in a family that gets an eligible payment at least once in the calendar year.
If you’re not eligible for this benefit, you can still go through the public dental system and it won’t affect the care we give your child.
What kids dental services you can access
You can use the Child Dental Benefit Schedule for a wide range of services for your child. Whether they need a check-up, teeth clean, x-ray, filling or extraction, this $1000 dental benefit will help offset some or all of their dental bills.
There are some restrictions for basic dental services. This usually includes orthodontic dental work, cosmetic dental work and any dental services in a hospital. You should check with us about whether there are any restricted items when you book in your child’s appointment with us.
How to access the benefit
You don’t need to register your child for the benefit. Each January, they government checks whether your child is eligible and continues to check throughout the year. If they’re eligible, the government will send you a letter if you’re eligible.
You can also check your child’s eligibility and your benefit balance through my.gov.au or by calling Medicare on 13 20 11.
